About the Course

The session will provide professional accountants with practical and updated information on the factors affecting the assessment of contributory pensions, taking into consideration the latest changes as announced in Budget 2025. The session will delve into how these parameters impact current and future pensioners and also information about other related social security matters.

Course Trainers

Mr Mark Musù joined the Public Service in 1986, holding various positions within the Ministry for Family and Social Solidarity and the Department of Social Security ever since. In December 2005, he was appointed Director responsible for EU & International Affairs within the Ministry for Family and Social Solidarity. In November 2008, Mr Musù was appointed Director (Strategic Development and International Relations) in the Department of Social Security and in November 2012, Director (Pensions Strategy). In March 2013 he was appointed Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity. He was reconfirmed in this position three times, the most recent in March 2023 as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights. In addition, he is also Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Social and Affordable Accommodation. Early in 2023, he was also appointed as Deputy Chairperson of the MCESD and of the Low Wage Commission. He has also recently been reconfirmed as Chairperson of the Pensions Strategy Group which is tasked to submit its 2025 strategic review report aimed at securing the adequacy and sustainability of the pension system in Malta.
