About the Course

The seminar is designed for professionals working in communication, policy, digital media, education, and related fields who are interested in understanding the societal impact of AI-driven systems.

The aim of this seminar is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and hate speech in digital environments. Through an interdisciplinary approach, participants will explore how AI systems influence, detect, moderate, and sometimes amplify harmful online discourse. The seminar seeks to increase awareness of the ethical, legal, social, and technological challenges associated with governing online communication, while fostering critical thinking about the opportunities and limitations of AI-driven solutions.

By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to critically assess the role of AI in shaping online communication and recognize the complexities involved in identifying and addressing hate speech. They will gain practical insights into the ethical and regulatory implications of AI technologies and develop a stronger understanding of how these issues affect their professional contexts. Participants will be equipped to apply this knowledge in their work by promoting responsible digital communication practices, evaluating AI-based moderation tools more effectively, and contributing to more inclusive and respectful

Course Trainers

Ms Viviana Premazzi possesses a PhD in Sociology of Migration and an MA in Intercultural and Interreligious conflict management. In 2018, she founded Global Mindset Development, a global organization to help individuals and organisations to develop an open and curious mindset to work effectively across cultures and promote diverse and inclusive workplaces and societies. Viviana travelled to more than 60 countries and lived in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Portugal, The Netherlands and USA before falling in love with Malta. Former UN and World Bank consultant, she has provided expert advice to international organisations, government agencies, national and international companies, NGOs, charities and social enterprises on topics related to Intercultural Management and Communication, Interreligious Dialogue and Social Justice. Her home is the world. Wherever she goes she brings complexity but also a lot of enthusiasm and passion for life in all its forms!
