About the Course

Hearing impairment occurs when one loses part or all of the ability to hear. It can affect personal and work life due to impaired communication. This course will enable participants to obtain detailed information on hearing loss. Participants will learn how to understand and interact with individuals with this condition.

Course Trainers

Dr Pauline Miggiani graduated in 2008 as a speech therapist and worked in a pediatric setting. Her interest in hearing impairment grew over the years and she was one of the first cohort of the local MSc Audiology program, graduating in 2015. Since then she has been working as an Audiologist in Mater Dei. She works on pediatric diagnostics and rehabilitation, speech audiometry, electrophysiological tests (Auditory Brainstem Response) and implantable devices (bone anchored hearing aids and cochlear implants). Amidst the pandemic she finished her PhD studies in July 2021. Her research interests are speech audiometry, pediatric rehabilitation and cochlear implants.
